Bajaj Auto surges on reporting 4% jump in October sales

Bajaj Auto is currently trading at Rs. 1884.85, up by 39.80 points or 2.16% from its previous closing of Rs. 1845.05 on the BSE.

The scrip opened at Rs. 1854.90 and has touched a high and low of Rs. 1888.00 and Rs. 1851.75 respectively. So far 12868 shares were traded on the counter.

The BSE group 'A' stock of face value Rs. 10 has touched a 52 week high of Rs. 1852.00 on 01-Nov-2012 and a 52 week low of Rs. 1410.00 on 16-Jan-2012.

Last one week high and low of the scrip stood at Rs. 1888.00 and Rs. 1790.00 respectively. The current market cap of the company is Rs. 54227.38 crore.

The promoters holding in the company stood at 50.02% while Institutions and Non-Institutions held 25.08% and 24.87% respectively.

Bajaj Auto has reported a 4% jump in its overall sales for the month of October 2012 which stood at 411,502 units against 395,274 units compared to the corresponding period last year. The company has recorded highest ever domestic motorcycle sales which stood at 262,000 units. It has recorded highest ever Discover sales of 155,000 units. Also, the commercial vehicles has recorded highest ever sales for any month.

The company’s exports however dropped by 4% in October and stood at 126,091 units compared with 131,948 units in October 2011. As per the segment-wise break-up, the company’s motorcycles sales in October, 2012 jumped by 3% to 361,186 units compared to 351,083 units in October last year while its commercial vehicles sales rose by 14% to 50,316 units compared to 44,191 units in the corresponding month of the previous fiscal.

From April-October, 2012 period, the combined sales saw a drop of 4% to 25,39,681 units compared to 26,52,226 units in April - October last year. Besides, cumulative exports from April to October 2012 dropped 5% to 9,32,021 units from 9,83,446 units during the corresponding period of last fiscal.

As per the segment-wise break-up, the company’s motorcycles sales from April-October 2012 fell by 3% to 22,72,333 units compared to 23,41,491 units in the corresponding period of last fiscal. The commercial vehicles sales in the period under review fell by 14% to 267,348 units from 310,735 units in the corresponding period of last fiscal.
