Hero MotoCorp surges on reporting 3.31% rise in October 2012 sales

Hero MotoCorp is currently trading at Rs. 1943.00, up by 37.75 points or 1.98% from its previous closing of Rs. 1905.25 on the BSE.

The scrip opened at Rs. 1919.00 and has touched a high and low of Rs. 1950.00 and Rs. 1918.90 respectively. So far 36,000 shares were traded on the counter.

The BSE group 'A' stock of face value Rs. 2 has touched a 52 week high of Rs. 2278.50 on 02-May-2012 and a 52 week low of Rs. 1702.65 on 09-Jan-2012.

Last one week high and low of the scrip stood at Rs. 1950.00 and Rs. 1830.00 respectively. The current market cap of the company is Rs. 38,799 crore.

The promoters holding in the company stood at 52.21% while Institutions and Non-Institutions held 39.01% and 8.78% respectively.

Country’s largest two-wheeler maker, Hero MotoCorp (HMCL) has reported a 3.31 percent rise in sales at 529,215 units of two-wheelers in October 2012. In the corresponding month the previous year, the company had sold 512,238 units.

In terms of retail sales during the festive season - a real barometer of customer response - HMCL sold over 3.50 lakh units of two-wheelers in just the first 15 days of the festive period - starting from the first day of Navratra i.e. October 16, 2012 onwards.

Besides, the company is already the second-largest player in the scooters segment since September this year, Hero MotoCorp also recorded its highest-ever scooter sales for any month by crossing the threshold 50,000 units in October.

Further, the new 110cc scooter - Hero Maestro - has been a block-buster and together with the 100cc scooter Pleasure, the company has now started clocking an average of close to 50,000 units per month. Also, encouraged by the success of its scooters, HMCL has already scaled up its scooter production to over 60,000 units a month to meet the overwhelming customer demand
