Canara Bank declines on reporting 22% fall in Q2 net profit

Canara Bank is currently trading at Rs. 415.00, down by 3.30 points or 0.79% from its previous closing of Rs. 418.30 on the BSE.

The scrip opened at Rs. 418.30 and has touched a high and low of Rs. 418.50 and Rs. 403.15 respectively. So far 322017 shares were traded on the counter.

The BSE group 'A' stock of face value Rs. 10 has touched a 52 week high of Rs. 566.00 on 17-Feb-2012 and a 52 week low of Rs. 306.00 on 30-Aug-2012.

Last one week high and low of the scrip stood at Rs. 429.95 and Rs. 391.00 respectively. The current market cap of the company is Rs. 18163.00 crore.

The promoters holding in the company stood at 67.72% while Institutions and Non-Institutions held 25.64% and 6.64% respectively.

Canara Bank has reported results for second quarter ended September 30, 2012.

The bank has registered a fall of 22.44% in its net profit at Rs 660.97 crore as compared to Rs 852.22 crore in the corresponding month previous year. However, total income of the bank has increased by 9.08% to Rs 9203.61 crore for the quarter under review as compared to Rs 8437.27 crore in the same month last year.

Gross non-performing assets (NPAs) rose to 2.58% in the quarter under review as against 1.75% in the same quarter previous year while net NPAs too rose to 2.12% from 1.42%.
