Asian markets ended mixed on Wednesday on concerns about the fast-spreading Delta variant, while renewed optimism about global economic growth supported market sentiment. Chinese shares settled up despite lingering regulatory risks. Japanese shares ended higher ahead of Tokyo 2020 Olympics, while jump in exports in June also boosted expectations for an export-led economic recovery. Ministry of Finance data showed that Japan's exports rose 48.6% in June from a year earlier. Meanwhile, South Korea shares ended lower as the Country reported a daily record of novel corona-virus cases.
