Vedanta soars on planning to invest Rs 6,611 crore over next two years to ramp up smelter capacity of Balco

Vedanta is currently trading at Rs. 268.20, up by 2.75 points or 1.04% from its previous closing of Rs. 265.45 on the BSE.

The scrip opened at Rs. 267.00 and has touched a high and low of Rs. 269.25 and Rs. 261.30 respectively. So far 337463 shares were traded on the counter.

The BSE group 'A' stock of face value Rs. 1 has touched a 52 week high of Rs. 296.25 on 10-May-2021 and a 52 week low of Rs. 91.25 on 04-Nov-2020.

Last one week high and low of the scrip stood at Rs. 276.50 and Rs. 260.00 respectively. The current market cap of the company is Rs. 99992.53 crore.

The promoters holding in the company stood at 65.18%, while Institutions and Non-Institutions held 20.89% and 9.60% respectively.

Vedanta is planning to invest Rs 6,611 crore over the next two years to ramp up the smelter capacity of Bharat Aluminium Company (Balco). Balco is a Vedanta Group company. In addition, its carbon plant adequacy business at Jharsuguda, Odisha, will set up a new carbon facility at a cost of Rs 635 crore.

Balco's smelter capacity, as a result, will increase by 414 kilo-tonnes per annum (KTPA), taking its total capacity to close to one million tonne. With this fresh investment, Balco's value-added product portfolio will increase to 92 per cent.

Vedanta is a diversified natural resources company, whose business primarily involves producing oil and gas, zinc- lead-silver, copper, iron ore, aluminium and commercial power.
