Indian Hotels Company to increase room-rates in the next quarter

Indian Hotels Company (IHCL), the hotel chain operator is planning to increase room-rates in the next quarter, as it is expecting improvement in occupancy levels in the next two months - the peak season for hospitality industry.  The company also aims to raise room rates by 8% this season.

The company has added five hotels in 2012-13 with 509 rooms and set to open eight hotels with 905 rooms in the remaining months of the fiscal. These include Vivanta by Taj in Gurgaon, and its prototype Gateway Hotels in Kolkata, Hubli and Chennai, all of which will be on management contract, and four Ginger hotels in Jaipur, Bangalore, Noida and Amritsar.
