Tata Metaliks has received an approval to make an application with the appropriate authority for closure of the Redi plant, located at Terekhol Road, Sindhudurg district, Redi in Maharashtra, in accordance with the provisions of the Industrial Disputes Act, 1947. The decision has been taken after examining all options. The board at its meeting held on November 19, 2012 has decided for the same.
Tata Metaliks was set up as a joint venture between Tata Steel and WBIDC (West Bengal Industrial Development Corporation) to manufacture pig iron at its plant at Kharagpur, West Bengal. It has two plants at present, one located at Kharagpur (West Bengal) and the other at Redi (Maharashtra).
