Maruti Suzuki reports 26% fall in total production in October

Maruti Suzuki India’s total production (Passenger Vehicle + Light Commercial Vehicles) in October decreased by 26.14% on a yearly basis to 134,779 units. The company had produced a total of 182,490 units in the year-ago period.

Passenger vehicle production stood at 130,763 units in October, as against 176,942 units in October 2020. Production of mini cars comprising Alto and S-Presso models stood at 86,456 units in October as against 134,445 units a year ago. Similarly, manufacturing of compact cars, comprising Baleno, Celerio, Dzire, Ignis, Swift, WagonR, OEM Model, fell to 62,824 units from 102,666 units earlier. However, production of utility vehicles -- Ertiga, Gypsy, Jimny, SCross, Vitara Brezza, XL6, OEM Model – increased to 32,313 units last month from 27,665 units in the corresponding month of 2020.

Meanwhile, production of its light commercial vehicle Super Carry stood at 4,016 units as against 5,548 units in the year-ago month.
