Adani Power proposes to invest Rs 7,000 crore for power project in Bihar

Adani Power (APL) is likely to invest to the tune of Rs 7,000 crore for setting up 1320 (610x2) MW thermal power station and undertake mining in Urma Pahari coalmines located in Jharkhand. This proposal is submitted by APL Chairman at a meeting with Bihar Chief Minister Nitish Kumar.

The exact location of the proposed plant which is yet to be decided would help cater to the energy requirements of Bihar and the projects will generate over 5,000 jobs for the locals. The company has made huge investments in power generation, logistics, coal mining and trading, city gas distribution, agriculture business and food processing sectors. The company has also started coal mining business in Australia. The Centre has allotted the Urma Pahari coal block to Bihar to meet its requirement of coal for thermal power stations.

The Chief Minister directed the officials to study the proposals put forward by the group and asked the chief secretary to hold talks with the group regarding power supply from Adani Power and take a decision at the earliest.
