Sterlite Industries leads the gainers of metal index on the BSE

Sterlite Industries (India) is currently trading at Rs. 108.90, up by 3.80 points or 3.62% from its previous closing of Rs 105.10 on the BSE.

The scrip opened at Rs 105.50 and has touched a high and low of Rs 109.55 and Rs 105.45 respectively. So far 516073 shares were traded on the counter.

The BSE group 'A' stock of face value Rs 1 has touched a 52 week high of Rs 138.40 on 17-Feb-2012 and a 52 week low of Rs 86.10 on 19-Dec-2011.

Last one week high and low of the scrip stood at Rs. 109.55 and Rs. 96.80 respectively. The current market cap of the company is Rs 36624.65 crore.

The promoters holding in the company stood at 53.31% while Institutions and Non-Institutions held 22.49% and 11.10% respectively.

The other top gainers of the BSE Metal index are Jindal Steel up by 3.09%, Tata Steel up by 1.83%, Sesa Goa up by 1.76% and NMDC was up by 1.63%.

The company has reported a surge of 174.10% in its net profit at Rs 704.77 crore for the quarter ended September 30, 2012 as compared to Rs 257.12 crore for the same quarter in the previous year. The company’s net income from operation has increased marginally by 4.67% at Rs 5437.75 crore for quarter under review as compared to Rs 5195.27 crore for the quarter ended September 30, 2011.
