Asian Markets trade mostly higher in early deals on Monday

Most of the Asian equity benchmarks traded higher in early deals on Monday, as most of the markets reopened after new-year holidays. The investor sentiments is up on first trading day of the new calendar year with the rally in technological stocks. Banking stocks were also advancing in the session. Oil stocks also picked up as Crude oil also got lifted with suppliers in focus ahead of Tuesday's OPEC+ meeting.  However, resurgence in Covid cases limited the gains in the session. Japan’s Nikkei and China’s Shanghai Composite were shut for New Year holidays. Indonesian index led the gains in the Asian trade. Among the Asian stocks, Singapore, Taiwan, Indonesia and South Korea were in positive note. Bucking the trend Hong Kong and Malaysia are lower.

Straight times up by 8.52 points or 0.27% to 3,132.20, Taiwan Weighted rose by 29.17 points or 0.16% to 18,248.01, Jakarta Composite climbed by 55.52 points or 0.84% to 6,637.00, KOSPI lifted by 6.58 points or 0.22% to 2,984.23.

On the flip side, Hang Seng down by 144.98 points or 0.62% to 23,252.69, and FTSE Bursa Malaysia KLCI lower by 17.74 points or 1.13% to 1,549.79.
