Maruti Suzuki reports marginal rise in total production in January

Maruti Suzuki India’s total production (Passenger Vehicle + Light Commercial Vehicles) in January 2022 has increased marginally by 0.25% on a yearly basis to 161,383 units. The company had produced a total of 160,975 units in the year-ago period. 

Passenger vehicle production stood at 157,668 units in January 2022, as against 156,439 units in January 2021. Production of mini cars comprising Alto and S-Presso models stood at 23,321 units in January 2022 as against 27,665 units a year ago. Similarly, manufacturing of compact cars, comprising Baleno, Celerio, Dzire, Ignis, Swift, WagonR, OEM Model stood at 87,165 units as against 86,282 units earlier. Production of utility vehicles -- Ertiga, Gypsy, Jimny, SCross, Vitara Brezza, XL6, OEM Model -- increased to 33,550 units in January 2022 from 29,199 units in the corresponding month of 2021.    

Meanwhile, production of its light commercial vehicle Super Carry stood at 3,715 units as against 4,536 units in the year-ago month.
