Delhi Police Commissioner Neeraj Kumar has invalidated a magistrate’s allegation that three top Delhi cops had tried to interfere with the crucial process of recording gang-rape victim’s statement, in a letter to the Home Ministry. Earlier, Delhi chief minster Sheila Dikshit shot off a letter to Home Minister Sushilkumar Shinde citing a communication to her by Deputy Commissioner (East) BM Mishra that sub-divisional magistrate Usha Chaturvedi had complained that senior police officials' interfered while she was recording the statement of the victim.

In her letter, Dikshit enclosed a letter of complaint written by sub-divisional magistrate Usha Chaturvedi to the district magistrate (East) that three senior police officers had prevented the video recording of the victim's statement. Chaturvedi alleged the police officers wanted her to use a questionnaire they had prepared. The Ministry however, taking note of these two letters, ensured an immediate appropriate action on the controversy.
