GAIL India gains on the plans of resuming natural gas pipe laying work in Kerala

GAIL (India) is currently trading at Rs 354.50, up by 1.10 points or 0.31% from its previous closing of Rs 353.40 on the BSE.

The scrip opened at Rs 355.20 and has touched a high and low of Rs 356.40 and Rs 353.15 respectively. So far 3276 shares were traded on the counter.

The BSE group 'A' stock of face value Rs 10 has touched a 52 week high of Rs 401.00 on 16-Feb-2012 and a 52 week low of Rs 303.10 on 18-May-2012.

Last one week high and low of the scrip stood at Rs 356.00 and Rs 345.00 respectively. The current market cap of the company is Rs 44827.99 crore.

The promoters holding in the company stood at 57.34% while Institutions and Non-Institutions held 38.84% and 2.92% respectively.

GAIL’s natural gas pipe laying work in Kerala is all set to resume with the company agreeing in-principle to hike the compensation amount. The company’s gas pipe laying work slowed down after resistance from local people asking more compensation for the land through which the pipe was passing.

The company has agreed to pay 30 per cent of the fair value of the land to the owners of the land considering Kerala’s situation and has also decided to bring down the width of the land for laying pipe line from 20 meters, which is the standard practice, to 10 meters in Kerala.
