JK Tyre & Industries to reduce raw water usage by over 65% by 2025

JK Tyre & Industries is planning to reduce its raw water usage for manufacturing processes across all its plants in India by over 65% from the base year of 2013-14 by 2025. As part of a strategy to reduce its environmental footprint and also help mitigate business risks. By the financial year 2024-25, it will replace 50% of its coal usage with biomass.

The company's Kankroli and Chennai plants have already achieved zero raw water usage for processes. The shift would, however, entail significant investments as company will have to make changes in boilers. The company has a total of 12 manufacturing facilities with 9 in India and 3 in Mexico that collectively produce around 35 million tyres annually.
