Asian markets traded mostly lower in early deals on Tuesday, in the thin holiday trade. Stock markets of Japan, Indonesia, China, and Malaysia are closed for a holiday. Market participants side-lined amid anticipation over sharpest interest rate hike since 2000, of 50 basis points by the US Federal Reserve later in the day. Moreover, participants also closely monitored the impending monetary policy meetings of European Central Bank and the Bank of England later this week, for more cues on hawkish stance to tackle the surging inflationary pressure. Additionally, persisting geo-political tensions, and continued covid instigated lockdowns in China also weighed down equity investments.

Straight times down 2.72 points or 0.08% to 3,354.18, Hang Seng dipped by 281.57 points or 1.33% to 20,820.32, and KOSPI decreased by 4.46 points or 0.17% to 2,676.00

On the flip side, Taiwan lifted by 48.31points or 0.29% to 16,547.21.
