Vedanta melts as National Green Tribunal imposes fine of Rs 25 crore

Vedanta is currently trading at Rs. 355.10, down by 5.50 points or 1.53% from its previous closing of Rs. 360.60 on the BSE.

The scrip opened at Rs. 356.90 and has touched a high and low of Rs. 357.90 and Rs. 347.35 respectively. So far 357117 shares were traded on the counter.

The BSE group 'A' stock of face value Rs. 1 has touched a 52 week high of Rs. 440.75 on 11-Apr-2022 and a 52 week low of Rs. 242.60 on 18-Jun-2021.

Last one week high and low of the scrip stood at Rs. 412.00 and Rs. 347.35 respectively. The current market cap of the company is Rs. 131217.13 crore.

The promoters holding in the company stood at 69.69%, while Institutions and Non-Institutions held 20.95% and 9.36% respectively.

The National Green Tribunal (NGT) has imposed a fine of Rs 25 crore on Vedanta for violating the environmental norms by expanding its plant at Lanjigarh in Odisha's Kalahandi district. It directed the company to deposit the amount with the State Pollution Control Board within one month to be kept in a separate account to be utilised for the restoration of the environment.

Vedanta is a diversified natural resources company, whose business primarily involves producing oil and gas, zinc- lead-silver, copper, iron ore, aluminium and commercial power.
