Shree Renuka Sugars bag project to operate a captive berth

03 Jan 2013 Evaluate

Shree Renuka Sugars (SRS) has been awarded a project to operate a captive berth with a capacity of 1.5 million tonne a year in Kandla Port. The sugar manufacturer has received letter of award on December 27 after Cabinet clearance for handing over the requisite land in Kandla port to SRS for operating the facility. The entity aims to start operating the captive jetty in a year, which will help them to handle larger vessels, Panamax size, and lower the transportation costs.

Shree Renuka Sugars is one of the largest private sector sugar manufacturers in the country, promoted by first generation entrepreneurs, viz. Murkumbi family, with a combined crushing capacity of about 35,000 TCD (across seven units) in India and 59,520 TCD (across four units) in Brazil.
