Indraprastha Gas soars on the buzz of hiking CNG prices by 4%

Indraprastha Gas is currently trading at Rs 256.45, up by 4.05 points or 1.60% from its previous closing of Rs 252.40 on the BSE.

The scrip opened at Rs 258.00 and has touched a high and low of Rs 262.00 and Rs 255.15 respectively. So far 82773 shares were traded on the counter.

The BSE group 'A' stock of face value Rs 10 has touched a 52 week high of Rs 394.05 on 10-Jan-2012 and a 52 week low of Rs 170.00 on 10-Apr-2012.

Last one week high and low of the scrip stood at Rs 257.80 and Rs 246.75 respectively. The current market cap of the company is Rs 3588.20 crore.

The promoters holding in the company stood at 45.00% while Institutions and Non-Institutions held 33.93% and 21.07% respectively.

Indraprastha Gas has reportedly raised the CNG (compressed natural gas) price by 4% due to increase in overall input cost of natural gas. The company has hiked the fuel’s price by Rs 1.55 per kg in Delhi and Rs 1.80 a kg in the satellite townships of Noida, Greater Noida and Ghaziabad.

Meanwhile, in order to bridge shortfall in domestic supplies in the wake of drop in output from Reliance Industries' Andhra offshore field, the company has been selling more imported gas, which costs about three times more than domestic gas.

Indraprastha’s core business is to distribute CNG and PNG in Delhi. It has presence in areas including Sarita Vihar, Jasola, Dwarka, Rohini, Pitampura, Janakpuri, Maya Enclave, Saket, Hauz Khas, Paschim Vihar, Vikaspuri, Dilshad Garden and many more.
