07 Jan 2013 Evaluate

Tata Power’s wholly-owned subsidiary Coastal Gujarat Power (CGPL) has synchronized its 800-megawatt (Mw) unit 4 of the country's first Ultra Mega Power Project (UMPP) at Mundra in Gujarat.

The above mentioned synchronization is a significant milestone given the critical power shortage situation in the country. Following this, Tata Power’s thermal power generation capacity now stands at 6,847 Mw and generation through clean sources such as hydro, wind and solar stands at 852 Mw.

The company had commissioned Unit 1 of Mundra UMPP in March 2012, Unit 2 in July 2012 and Unit 3 in October 2012.
