NTPC has reportedly awarded multiple contracts to import 6.25 million tonne (mt) of coal to Adani Enterprises at a cumulative value of Rs 6,585 crore. The state-owned genco is importing coal to meet the recent directive of the Union power ministry to blend 10 per cent imported coal in order to tackle domestic coal shortage.
The company placed six different tenders and received technical bids from four players - Ahmedabad-based Adi Tradelink, Chennai-based Chettinad Logistics, and Delhi-based Mohit Minerals, along with Adani Enterprises.
NTPC is the largest power utility company in India and has presence in Coal, Gas, Solar PV, Hydro and Wind Power Generation and Coal Mining.
