11 Jan 2013 Evaluate

Tata Metaliks has sought permission for an iron ore linkage, in order to start work for the proposed integrated iron and steel plant in Karnataka. The company has requested the government of Karnataka that unless it gets approval for a secure iron ore linkage it will not be able to take the next step of starting the physical work on that site.

The land acquisition for the plant was completed and the company deposited Rs 36 crore to the Karnataka government. The Karnataka government reportedly acquired 2,500 acre at Haveri district for the three million tonne steel plant of Tata Metaliks. Pig iron maker has also completed adding a sinter plant to its unit at Kharagpur in West Bengal, which will add 50,000 tonne production capacity.
