DLF surges on the buzz of plans to sell wind energy business for Rs 900 crore

DLF is currently trading at Rs. 253.00, up by 4.40 points or 1.77% from its previous closing of Rs. 248.60 on the BSE.

The scrip opened at Rs. 249.00 and has touched a high and low of Rs. 256.00 and Rs. 248.40 respectively. So far 413081 shares were traded on the counter.

The BSE group 'A' stock of face value Rs. 2 has touched a 52 week high of Rs. 261.35 on 22-Feb-2012 and a 52 week low of Rs. 169.55 on 04-Jun-2012.

Last one week high and low of the scrip stood at Rs. 254.40 and Rs. 229.00 respectively. The current market cap of the company is Rs. 42924.51 crore.

The promoters holding in the company stood at 78.58% while Institutions and Non-Institutions held 15.86% and 5.56% respectively.

DLF is reportedly planning to sell its wind energy business for about Rs 900 crore to an unlisted firm founded by the former General Electric India boss Tejpreet Singh Chopra.

Initially, the company will sell windmills that can generate up to 200 megawatts of power and have permission from state governments to transfer power purchase agreements. Afterwards, it will sell the assets that can generate another 28 MW of power.

The company needs the permission of state government for transferring PPA before they sell power generating assets.

DLF, founded by billionaire Kushal Pal Singh, has a land bank of 10,255 acres, the biggest in the real estate sector. At its peak, its debt pile stood at Rs 23,000 crore.
