SpiceJet, India's second-biggest budget carrier by market share will be starting its operations from the Gaggal Airport located in Gaggal near Dharamsala, Kangra in the state of Himachal Pradesh. The country’s budget airline is all set to take this step in order to cater to the increasing demand of the passengers.
The airline will launch a service between the Dharamsala town and Delhi via Chandigarh and a technical survey has already been conducted by the experts for this purpose. The move assumes significance as Dharamsala, also the seat of Tibetan spiritual guru Dalai Lama, recently emerged on the cricketing map of the country.
Last year in October, the operations at the Gaggal airport were halted after the only service provider Kingfisher had grounded its fleet following employee issues.
