REC surges on inking pact with SECM for energy conservation

Rural Electrification Corporation (REC) is currently trading at Rs. 239.50, up by 2.65 points or 1.12 % from its previous closing of Rs. 236.85 on the BSE.

The scrip opened at Rs. 238.90 and has touched a high and low of Rs. 240.80 and Rs. 236.00 respectively. So far 49712 shares were traded on the counter.

The BSE group 'A' stock of face value Rs. 10 has touched a 52 week high of Rs. 267.50 on 04-Jan-2013 and a 52 week low of Rs. 142.00 on 07-Jun-2012.

Last one week high and low of the scrip stood at Rs. 245.20 and Rs. 235.00 respectively. The current market cap of the company is Rs. 23639.77 crore.

The promoters holding in the company stood at 66.80% while Institutions and Non-Institutions held 27.29% and 5.92% respectively.

State run, Rural Electrification Corporation of India’s central institute for rural electrification will ink pact with State Energy Conservation Mission (SECM), agency in Andhra Pradesh, in energy conservation measures. SECM associated with REC to further explore the possibilities of energy efficiency and conservation activities which will benefit the power utilities as well as consumers.

REC is engaged in providing financial assistance to state electricity boards, state government departments and rural electric co-operatives for rural electrification projects as are sponsored by them.
