Asian markets trade mostly lower in early deals on Wednesday

Most of the Asian markets traded lower in early deals on Wednesday, due to hefty correction in the indices saddled by the global recession fears. Moreover, risk aversion ahead to Federal Reserve’s monetary policy decision on later today and Friday’s monthly US jobs report also pressured the stock investments. Even though, China recovery optimism limited some losses. Japan’s Nikkei which opened after long new year holidays plunged to a three month low level amid aggressive monetary tightening fears. Besides, sluggish manufacturing activity figures for the second straight month in December spooked potential recession woes.

Nikkei 225 down by 330.45 points or 1.27% to 25,764.05, Straight times slipped 0.28 points or 0.01% to 3,245.52, Jakarta Composite shrunk by 16.24 points or 0.24% to 6,872.52, Taiwan diminished by 2.42 points or 0.02% to 14,221.70, and FTSE Bursa Malaysia KLCI dipped by 0.36 points or 0.02% to 1,473.63.

On the flip side, Hang Seng increased by 462.92 points or 2.30 % to 20,608.21, KOSPI rose by 31.30 points or 1.41% to 2,249.98, and Shanghai buoyed by 10.01 points or 0.32% to 3,126.52.
