Asian markets trade mostly higher in early deals on Monday

Most of the Asian markets were trading higher on Monday, tracking positive cues from global markets last Friday. A drop in US wage growth and a contraction in US service sector activity in the month of December eased worries about the US Federal Reserve's aggressive policy tightening path. Chinese shares gained after the country reopened its borders to international visitors after three years of Covid closure. Meanwhile, the Japanese market is closed on account of Coming-of-Age holiday. 

Straight times up by 18.48 points or 0.56% to 3,295.20, Hang Seng increased by 362.86 points or 1.73% to 21,354.50, Taiwan enlarged by 314.71 points or 2.19% to 14,688.05, KOSPI lifted by 58.49 points or 2.55% to 2,348.46, Shanghai buoyed by 17.75 points or 0.56% to 3,175.39 and FTSE Bursa Malaysia KLCI higher by 7.20 points or 0.49% to 1,487.75. 

On the flip side, Jakarta Composite declined by 5.39 points or 0.08% to 6,679.17.
