Hindustan Copper awards Rs 260 crore EPC contract for Jharkhand mine

Hindustan Copper has received an approval from the board of directors for awarding the EPC contract worth Rs 259.91 crore to a group led by Kopex Shaft Sinking Co of Poland. The company has awarded the contract for re-opening and expansion of Rakha mine in Jharkhand. 

The other member of the group is India Resource of Australia. The group will produce copper bearing ore of 1.5 million tonnes a year. India Resource is the operator of the HCL’s Surda mine, since 2007 which was also in Jharkhand.

Hindustan Copper’s principal activities include mining of copper ore, concentration of copper ore into copper concentrate through a beneficiation process and also smelting, refining and extruding of the copper concentrate into refined copper in downstream saleable products.
