Maruti Suzuki India reports 7.9% decline in February 2013 sales

Maruti Suzuki India (MSI), the country’s largest carmaker has reported 7.9% decline in total sales (including export) for February 2013 at 1,09,567 units as against 1,18,949 units in the same month last year. The domestic sales of the company during the month stood at 97,955 units, down by 9% compared to 107,653 units in February last year. However, the company’s export registered a jump of 2.8% during the month which stood at 11,612 units as compared to 11,296 units in February last year.

The company’s total passenger car sales in the domestic market declined 10.90% to 83,865 units against 94,118 units in the same month of 2012. Similarly, sales of mini-segment cars, including M800, A-Star, Alto and WagonR, fell by 15.90% to 41,311 units during the month from 49,104 units in February last year.

The sales of compact segment vehicles comprising the Estilo, Swift and Ritz models declined by 13.9% to 24,021 units from 27,899 units in the same month a year ago. However, the sales of super compact - DZiRE increased by 21.60% to 18,316 units in February from 15,068 units in the same month last year.
