M&M surges on the buzz of hiking prices across various models

Mahindra & Mahindra (M&M) is currently trading at Rs. 882.15, up by 11.10 points or 1.27% from its previous closing of Rs. 871.05 on the BSE.

The scrip opened at Rs. 869.50 and has touched a high and low of Rs. 884.75 and Rs. 860.05 respectively. So far 30209 shares were traded on the counter.

The BSE group 'A' stock of face value Rs. 5 has touched a 52 week high of Rs. 974.80 on 10-Jan-2013 and a 52 week low of Rs. 621.75 on 18-May-2012.

Last one week high and low of the scrip stood at Rs. 901.65 and Rs. 849.80 respectively. The current market cap of the company is Rs. 54051.80 crore.

The promoters holding in the company stood at 25.30% while Institutions and Non-Institutions held 49.26% and 19.99% respectively.

Mahindra & Mahindra (M&M) has reportedly hiked prices across various models except Quanto. The company has hiked the prices due to increase in excise duty on sport utility vehicles (SUVs) from 27 per cent to 30 per cent. SUV is a vehicle similar to a station wagon or estate car, usually equipped with four-wheel drive for on and off-road ability.

Earlier in January this year, the company had increased prices of its vehicles by over 1-percent across various models to offset rising input costs.
