Hero MotoCorp reports 11% growth in February sales

Two-wheeler major, Hero MotoCorp has reported an 11% rise in sales for February 2013, at 228,444 units from 206,043 units sold in the corresponding month of last year. Its domestic market share stood at 19%.

The company’s motorcycle sales in the month under review grew by 31% at 108,553 units from 83,061 units sold in February 2012. However, the scooter sales fell by 3% at 119,891 units from 122,982 units sold in the corresponding month of last year.

The company reported an increase of 33% in its cumulative sales between April to February in the current fiscal that stood at 2,502,164 units from 1,886,741 units offtake in the same period of last year.

The cumulative motorcycle sales grew by 49% at 1,171,266 units from 784,104 units sold in the corresponding period of last fiscal. Cumulative scooter sales increased by 21% at 1,330,898 units from 1,102,637 units off-take in the like period of 2011-12.

Hero MotoCorp is the World's single largest two-wheeler motorcycle company. Honda Motor Company of Japan and the Hero Group entered a joint venture to setup Hero Honda Motors Limited in 1984. The joint venture between India's Hero Group and Honda Motor Company, Japan has not only created the world's single largest two wheeler company but also one of the most successful joint ventures worldwide.
