India's airports have been put on alert to prevent Italy's ambassador leaving the country amid a dispute over two Italian marines who skipped bail while on trial in Delhi.  The decision was taken by the Union home ministry a day after the Supreme Court restrained the Italian ambassador from leaving India without its permission.

A message has been sent to all immigration outposts across the country in compliance with the Supreme Court order by the Ministry of Home Affairs. The Supreme Court's notice to Mancini came after Janata Party President Subramanian Swamy filed a plea seeking action against the Italian ambassador for contempt of court as Mancini had assured the apex court that the two marines would return to India after casting their votes.

After hearing Attorney General (AG)'s submission, the bench issued notices to the ambassador and the two naval guards and asked them to file their response by March 18. The next date of hearing in the case against the Italian ambassador is March 19.
