Tata Power, India’s largest integrated power utility, has successfully commissioned lamella clarifier, a waste water recovery plant at power house No 6 as part of its World Water Day celebrations held on March 22, 2013. The ground breaking ceremony for this project was held on June 5, 2012, coinciding with World Environment Day.
This unique waste water recovery plant is an effluent treatment plant (capacity 50M3/hr) with tube settler clarifier. The objectives of installing this plant is to filter and purify the waste water that is generated from the side stream filtration (SSF) plant, and reuse the purified water as alternative water for the cooling water systems at the plant. The newly commissioned plant has a potential to save 400cu metres of water per day, translating into a saving of close to 150,000cu metres of water each year.
Tata Power is India's largest integrated private sector power utility with an installed generation capacity of 5297 MW and a presence in all the segments of the power sector viz. generation (thermal, hydro, solar and wind), transmission, distribution and trading.
