The export of Oilmeals during the month of March 2013 stood at 430,407 tons a drop of 31.50% as compared to 628,337 tons in March 2012, as per report compiled by Solvent Extractors’ Association (SEA). This fall in export was due to sharp drop in demand and lower price offered by competing countries such as China and Argentina. During April 2012 to March 2013, the total export of Oilmeals has reduced and reported at 4,846,013 tons, a decline of 13.45% as compared to 5,599,098 tons during the same period of last year.
The import of Oilmeal by South Korea from India during April 2012 to March 2013 is reported at 907,082 tons compared to 836,223 tons last year. This 907,082 tons consists of 203,568 tons of soybean meal, 380,611 tons of rapeseed meal and 322,903 tons of Castor meal. Vietnam another major market, imported 699,791 tons as compared to 920,708 tons last year. This 699,791 tons consists of 418,042 tons of soybean meal, 45,718 tons of rapeseed meal, 2,329 tons of groundnut meal, 502 tons of castor meal and entire quantity of 233,200 tons of rice bran extraction.
Besides, Japan imported 638,201 tons as compared to 1,292,962 tons last year. This 638,201 tons consists of 637,509 tons of soybean meal, 593 tons of rapeseed meal and 99 tons of castor meal. Separately, Thailand imported of 450,360 tons as compared to 523,285 tons of last year. This 450,360 tons consists of 334,894 tons of soybean meal, 115,377 tons of rapeseed meal and small quantity of 89 tons of Castor meal.
Additionally, Indonesia imported 201,999 tons as compared to 312,757 tons last year while Iran imported of 886,776 tons as compared to 230,760 tons last year. Europe and others have imported 493,966 tons compared to 386,107 tons last year.
