Prism Cement surges on forming JV to set up plants in India

Prism Cement is currently trading at Rs. 41.60, up by 0.10 points or 0.24% from its previous closing of Rs. 41.50 on the BSE.

The scrip opened at Rs. 41.55 and has touched a high and low of Rs. 41.95 and Rs. 41.55 respectively. So far 1590 shares were traded on the counter.

The BSE group 'B' stock of face value Rs. 10 has touched a 52 week high of Rs. 60.00 on 07-Nov-2012 and a 52 week low of Rs. 39.00 on 08-Apr-2013.

Last one week high and low of the scrip stood at Rs. 43.25 and Rs. 39.00 respectively. The current market cap of the company is Rs. 2093 crore.

The promoters holding in the company stood at 74.87% while Institutions and Non-Institutions held 3.93% and 21.20% respectively.

Prism Cement and German-based Ardex has formed a joint venture company Ardex Endura to set up plants in Bangalore and Durgapur, West Bengal, this year to meet the growing demand in the South, especially in Tamil Nadu and North-East. In this regard, the companies will invest Rs 40 crore.

The new plants will strengthen the Prism Cement’s position in (tile-fixing) adhesive, flooring products, water proofing concrete repair and allied products’ market.
