Union Bank of India has launched its 101st talking Automated Teller Machine (ATM) in the country located at Samantarapur in the outskirts of Bhubaneswar city. This is the 4,616th ATM of the bank and first talking ATM in the state of Odisha and in Bhubaneswar. The bank has 84 branches and 77 ATMs in the state of Odisha with opening of this talking ATM.
The bank intends to roll out 1,000 talking ATMs for the visually challenged by March 2014. The bank has recently won the Best IT Innovation Award with Rs 100,000 prize money for Talking ATM implementation from Computer Society of India.
The bank has reported 37.67% rise in its net profit at Rs 302.40 crore for third quarter ended December 31, 2012 as compared to Rs 219.66 crore for the same quarter in the previous year. Total income of the bank has increased by 16.19% at Rs 6959.37 crore for quarter under review as compared to Rs 5989.48 crore for the quarter ended December 31, 2011.
