Maruti rolls out 675 Swifts from Manesar plant

01 Oct 2011 Evaluate

Maruti Suzuki India (MSI), the country's largest carmaker has rolled out 675 units of Swift model from its two factories at Manesar and Gurgaon, despite confrontation with its workers at the plant. The company also produced 50 units of A-star and SX4 models from Manesar plants in a day. MSI started making these two models at Manesar this week after suspending it when the standoff with workers began on August 29.

However, there are no signs of an end to the impasse with the management and workers not backing off from their respective stands and no talks were held to end the impasse.

MSI had planned its 1,000th sales showroom in Surat, Gujarat, as a part of the strategy to expand into tier-II and tier-III cities across the country. The company is also aiming to double its sales network by 2015 across India with a focus on small towns and cities.
