Shree Renuka Sugars to increase processing of sugar beet

Shree Renuka Sugars, leading sugar refiner is planning to increase the processing of sugar beet to 50,000 tonnes in the 2013-14 marketing year starting September, from the existing 10,000 tones. Sugar beet is used in alcohol making and farmers have benefit with additional revenue.

The entity has sugar beet plant in Karnataka, which has a total processing capacity of 3,000 tonnes per day and the juice processed here is directly taken to distillery for alcohol production. The distillery capacity of the company is 930 kilo liters per day (KLPD) in India. Globally, it runs 11 sugar mills with a total crushing capacity of 20.7 million tonnes per annum (MTPA).
