The Central Electricity Regulatory Commission (CERC) has admitted two petitions filed by Anil Ambani-promoted Reliance Power’s plea seeking revision of electricity rates to be produced from Sasan Ultra Mega Power Project (UMPP). While the company has in one petition sought compensation due to change in law during operation period, in the second, it has sought compensation for change in law during construction.
Meanwhile, in similar case, Tata Power had won a major relief on Monday after the electricity regulator permitted the company to raise the tariff for power generated from its 4,000-MW Mundra plant. The electricity regulator also ordered that a committee needs to be set up to work out the price increase and decide the compensatory package, which will submit its report by May 15.
