NTPC’s Unit-Ill of 500 MW Indira Gandhi Super Thermal Power Project becomes operational

National Thermal Power Corporation’s (NTPC)’s Unit-Ill of 500 MW Indira Gandhi Super Thermal Power Project (IGSTPP) at Jhajjar is declared for commercial operation with effect from April 26, 2013. With this the total commercial capacity of IGSTPP has become 1,500 MW and that of NTPC Group - 39,684 MW.

IGSTPP is being implemented by Aravali Power Company- a joint venture between NTPC, Haryana Power Generation Corporation, Govt. of Haryana and Indraprastha Power Generation Company, Govt. of Delhi.

NTPC is the largest power generating company in the country. It has also diversified into hydro power, coal mining, power equipment manufacturing, oil & gas exploration, power trading & distribution.
