Gulf Oil Corporation, a leading company of lubricants and has suffered an explosion in the Finishing Section of the Detonating Cord Plant at Hyderabad Factory on April 25, during the 2nd shift at around 7.09 pm. A cave in the roof in the Finishing Section and some damages in the spinning and packing sections leaded to this explosion. 2 workmen were died in this explosion, any other workmen/ supervisors were not injured in this incident.
The affected Detonating Cord Plant contributes approximately Rs 12 crores annually to the total turnover of Rs. 83 crores of the Factory. The entire plant and machinery of factory is insured. The cause of the accident, full extent of the damage and restart of operations is being assessed. Other operations are continuing normally in Hyderabad Factory.
