Maruti Suzuki to focus more on rural areas

Maruti Suzuki, the nation’s largest car maker by volume, plans to increase sales in rural areas where deliveries exceeded those in large cities. The company, which has customers in 50,000 of the nation’s 650,000 villages, will spend more for marketing in order to attract clients in the countryside.

The company’s total income for the fourth quarter ended March 31, 2013 increased by 13.45% at Rs 13304.01 crore as compared to Rs 11727.01 crore for the quarter ended March 31, 2012. It reported 93.74% rise in its net profit at Rs 1239.62 crore for the Q4FY13 as compared to Rs 639.84 crore for the same quarter in the previous year.
