Scam ridden Indian Economy is embarrassed again, as one more scam gets added to the long list. The Rs 1000 crore worth education scam has appeared under government’s radar. The Maharashtra government is conducting a statewide inspection to find the number of students on the rolls of state run and government aided schools.

According to the records 3500 schools educate 7 lakh students in the Nanded district, however, inspection pointed out a whopping 1.4 lakh were bogus. This implies that state government has been paying extra unaccounted money for amount of Rs 120 crore to these schools. "We found that some divisions altogether did not exist. In some places, same students were made to sit for the morning school and afternoon schools during the inspection," said Rajendra Darda, School education minister.

The inspection will be covering 35 districts and experts warn it could be a 1000 crore rupee scam. The said inspection report will be prepared and tabled before the state cabinet in a week's time.
