13 May 2013 Evaluate

GVK-managed Bali international airport in partnership with the Government of Indonesia has awarded five-year duty-free and retail contracts to Dufry and DFS. The companies were selected from the list of 200 applicants that participated in the pre-bid process. The bids culminated into selection of DFS and Dufry International, the first and second largest duty free operators respectively in the world. The two duty-free operators are expected to help boost the airport authority’s revenue by six-folds to Rs 1,500 crore from the current Rs 300 crore.

GVK Power & Infrastructure, back in November 2012, signed an operations and management contract with the Airports Authority of Indonesia, (Angkasa Pura Airports AP1), the Indonesian government airport operator to manage the non-aeronautical commercial operations at Indonesia's second busiest Bali (Denpasar) International Airport. The scope includes both, the existing terminals and the new international terminal which is currently under construction and is expected to open in the third quarter of 2013 with a major make-over.
