Gammon Infrastructure in talks with international port firms to operate Mumbai Port: Report

21 May 2013 Evaluate

Gammon India’s infrastructure arm - Gammon Infrastructure Projects is reportedly in talks with international port companies to operate the Indira Container Terminal at Mumbai Port, as it has decided to change its current partner, Spanish logistics firm Dragados.

At present, Gammon Infra and Dragados had joint rights to develop and operate the 1,400-crore Indira Container Terminal at Mumbai Port. But the terminal is yet to begin the operations because of a wide range of problems at the port which include cargo evacuation concerns and inadequate depth.

The company has clearance from all stake holders and banks to buy 24% stake from Dragados, which is looking to exit the project as part of the company's plan to move out of all shipping-related projects.
