Hotel Leelaventure working with govt to include hotels in infra lending list

Hotel Leelaventure is currently working with government to include hotels in infra lending list. It has also agreed to bring debt down substantial in FY14. The benefit of being under infrastructure lending list is that one could replace existing rupee debt by ECBs. Hotels earn foreign exchange between 20-50% depending on the location because the food and beverages and other banquet income normally is in rupees.

The company had a total debt of Rs 4,602 crore as on March 2013 mainly on account of capital expenditure incurred to establish the Udaipur, Delhi and Chennai hotels, apart from acquiring plots at Agra, Pune and Bangalore, next to the Leela Palace.

The company reported a net loss of Rs 142.17 crore for the fourth quarter ended March 31, 2013 mainly on account of finance costs. It had posted a net profit of Rs 209.66 crore for the corresponding quarter previous fiscal. Net sales of the company, however, rose to Rs 200.63 crore for the quarter under consideration from Rs 139.31 crore for the same period year ago.

Hotel Leelaventure operates hotels and resorts in India. It also operates spas; and offers facilities for meetings and events, weddings, and social celebrations. The company’s portfolio includes luxury hotels and resorts primarily in Mumbai, Bangalore, Goa, Kovalam, Gurgaon, and Udaipur.
