Hansalpur villagers opposes Maruti Suzuki India (MSI)'s car manufacturing plant

Maruti Suzuki India (MSI)'s proposed car manufacturing plant at Hansalpur village is facing strong opposition from local people. The villagers are likely to send a notice to the company asking it to stop construction at the site. The company has already started building a boundary wall at the proposed site, as it has purchased and received possession of the land for the Hansalpur plant. The local people also opposed to Gujarat government's plan to convert the area around the MSI plant into a Special Investment Region (SIR).

The entity’s total production for the month of May 2013 has declined by 2.54% to 101,360 units from 104,003 units in same month last year. However, the production of Mini cars like Alto, A-Star and Wagon-R has increased by 17.45% to 43,911 units from 37,386 in May 2012.
