Asian markets trade mostly higher in early deals on Thursday

Most of the Asian markets are trading higher in early deals on Thursday. Japanese shares gained on tracking Wall street’s gains overnight led by technology stocks, and as US Treasury yields extended its retreat with expectations for an earlier-than-expected start to the US Federal Reserve's policy easing cycle after multiple reports signalled slowing growth in the world's largest economy. However, Hong Kong shares fell marginally ahead of trade data, even though it is expected to show more signs of recovery in the Chinese economy. Meanwhile, South Korean market is closed for the Memorial Day holiday.

Nikkei 225 up by 213.34 points or 0.55 % to 38,703.51, Straits Times rose by 7.50 points or 0.23% to 3,337.51, Taiwan Weighted gained by 417.82 points or 1.91% to 21,902.70, FTSE Bursa Malaysia KLCI traded marginally higher by 3.25 points or 0.2% to 1,611.78, and Jakarta Composite gained by 0.16 points to 6,947.83.

On the flip side, Shanghai Composite declined by 13.85 points or 0.45% to 3,051.55, and Hang Seng fell by 14.22 points 0.08% to 18,410.74.
