M&M shines on plan to launch lower variant of XUV 500

Mahindra & Mahindra is currently trading at Rs. 978.50, up by 11.45 points or 1.18% from its previous closing of Rs. 967.05 on the BSE.

The scrip opened at Rs. 976.00 and has touched a high and low of Rs. 984.00 and Rs. 972.90 respectively. So far 22,000 shares were traded on the counter.

The BSE group 'A' stock of face value Rs. 5 has touched a 52 week high of Rs. 1026.45 on 20-May-2013 and a 52 week low of Rs. 675.00 on 12-Jun-2012.

Last one week high and low of the scrip stood at Rs. 997.15 and Rs. 945.40 respectively. The current market cap of the company is Rs. 60,078.00 crore.

The promoters holding in the company stood at 25.18% while Institutions and Non-Institutions held 50.55% and 18.90% respectively.

In a bid to increase sales in a sluggish market, Mahindra & Mahindra (M&M) is planning to launch lower variant of its sports utility vehicle XUV 500 by the end of this fiscal. Mahindra had launched the XUV 500 in 2011. The company, at present, markets three variants of the model in the domestic market at a price range of Rs 12.13 lakh to Rs 14.77 lakh (ex-showroom Delhi).

Last month, the company had sold 2,200 units of the XUV500. The country’s leading SUV manufacturer had reported its auto sales numbers for May 2013 which stood at 43,460 units, a fall of 1.20% as against 43,989 units during May 2012.
