Power Grid inks pact with six North-eastern states to improve transmission network

Power Grid Corporation has entered into agreement with six North-eastern states including Assam, Meghalaya, Mizoram, Manipur, Nagaland and Tripura to provide its technical and managerial support for improvement in their respective intra- state transmission and distribution systems.

These projects will facilitate grid connectivity and enhance states’ capability to supply power to larger section of consumers with economy and reliability. The total estimated project cost is Rs 8,150.07 crore. Of which, 85% will be covered by loan from World Bank, while, states shall be contributing 5% of the cost as equity. The remaining 10% of the cost will be provided by Centre.

Power Grid is engaged in bulk power transmission and its responsibility include planning, coordination, supervision and control over inter-State transmission system and operation of National and Regional Power Grids.
